Dramatic School (1938) is a romantic drama film directed by Robert B. Sinclair and starring Luise Rainer, Paulette Goddard, Alan Marshal, Lana Turner, and Gale Sondergaard. 

 

Description

 

The film tells the story of an aspiring actress who attends the prestigious Paris School of Drama while working at a factory at night. Louise is determined to become a successful actress, despite her humble background and the obstacles she faces. She works hard to improve her skills and impress her teachers and peers. She also sacrifices her personal life for her career, rejecting Andre’s love and choosing to focus on her art.

 

The film was produced and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and it won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction.

 

  • The film is based on a play by Hans Székely. Hans Szekely was a Hungarian writer who wrote several plays and screenplays in the 1920s and 1930s. He won an Academy Award for Best Original Story for Arise, My Love (1940).
