Lana Turner, a Hollywood icon, was known for her glamour and dramatic roles. She rose to fame as a pin-up model and MGM star. Her notable films include The Postman Always Rings Twice and Peyton Place, earning her an Oscar nomination. This original drawing from the 1930s was made by Lawrence Gleadle during her role in Dramatic School.  Lana Turner’s popularity as an MGM actress was significant. In the mid-1940s, she was one of the highest-paid American actresses and a major star at MGM.
 
Her life, marked by her own experiences of personal dramas, only heightened her fame and public interest. Her father was murdered when she was a child followed by her daughter’s involvement in her lover’s death in adulthood. Despite challenges, she remained a beloved figure of the Golden Age of cinema, her legacy enduring as a symbol of Hollywood’s classic allure.
