A Love Story

70 years together

Beyond the canvas of posters and the hum of printing machines at Stafford's, there unfolded a captivating love story that became an inseparable part of Lawrence's artistic journey. Three years into his apprenticeship, the enchanting Ivy Froggat, a fifteen-year-old at the time, entered the world of of Stafford's life as a copygirl.

Her days spent between offices, the artists' room, and the printing shop—transcending the routine to master the delicate art of becoming a lithographic feeder. Ivy's journey, from handling paperwork to orchestrating prints in and out of machines, reflected not only her prowess but also her ability to communicate the intricacies of the printing world.

As Lawrence, nearing the end of his apprenticeship, and Ivy, a blossoming and intelligent young female, began 'courting,' their love story became the heartbeat of the artists' room. An all-encompassing melody sung by fellow workers, 'If You Were the Only Girl in the World,' echoed whenever Ivy entered the all-male sanctum—a song that not only serenaded her but became the anthem of Lawrence and Ivy's love, resonating through seven decades of shared dreams and enduring commitment.
